promenade
view of the entrance promenade of 400-unit development
this is a very recent entry for the promenade project, meeting went generally well with the client. one of the first times we succeeded to get the client to agree to a less dense, lower density brief. originally 452 units, we went on to bring the scale down to about 330 units or so.

KL LinearCity
Not too many years ago, ZLG Design [www.zlg-design.com] was commissioned to create a new concept for innercity living, and behold today we have the LRT system and the new KL Light Monorail Transit System, running along the once dilapidated KL "longkang", this being not so long ago, the single largest sewer, connecting all but the back of major run-down,still kicking, older buildings that make up what is still the original center of the city of Kuala Lumpur.
Brought out from the good days of the AA walking city idea, inspired by the legendary Professor Peter Cook, and his late colleague Ron Herron, both having visited Huat LIM of ZLG and having contributed a vast amount of resources to this Project, Susanne ZEIDLER included, in their office and at home, the Project team members are back. The Project after some eight years, actually materialised, after many economic sanctions and painful financial diaspora and take-over attempts failed to meet the challenges of this extraordinary concept, the dream development is now slowly taking shape in the form of simple white, modernist structures dotted along the riverside of Sungei [river] Klang.
This has to be the one single high-octane high-concept ultra project deserving of good and fair publicity, but it never did any, and no one really got anywhere, let alone Professor Peter Cook and the late Ron Herron or indeed the original designers who now wors at ZLG Design Studio. KL-LinearCity went through two major presentations to the ex Prime Minister, and one major paradigm shift for Malaysian Architecture. ZLG Travel News
Earlier this year we went off to Bali and climbed some mountains, and some of us broke personal records for endurance [there was no prize money but we all felt the honours had to go to ex-staff Dorian LIM]. The best part was time spent at the exclusive Director's Suite, and throwing ill-prepared persons into the private pool. Apart from waking the neighbours and actually attracting some other activities, we did very little damage to the natural environment. Our Indonesian guide was well versed in all local fare and cultures and we were kept truly entertained throughout the entire journey across this tropical paradise. Our heartiest thanks must go to Finance Manager Ms Cynthia NG for having organised a most unforgettable trip. No doubt there will be many return clients. There's now talk about climbing Mount Kinabalu, but most of us might opt for lazy days on some popular beach in Thailand. Proposals are pouring in, plans could be finalised by end September 2005.
